Living in Nevillewood: The Michelucci’s Thoughtful Transformation of 8000 Sherwood Drive

When Joe and Dallas Michelucci bought their Nevillewood home in November 2019, they weren’t just buying a house — they were beginning a new chapter.“We wanted to be close to my parents,” Joe explains. “And with our family growing, it felt like the perfect time to find a place that could grow with us.”

At the time, Dallas was pregnant with their second child, Lucca, who arrived in March 2020. Their oldest, Davis, was still a toddler then — and today, the Micheluccis’ family includes three kids: Davis (8), Lucca (5), and Roma (4).

“We both came from townhomes,” Dallas recalls. “When we met, Joe had one in South Fayette, and I had one in Southpointe. We’d each already built and decorated our own places, but once our family started to grow, we wanted something bigger — a real family home.”

A Full Overhaul with Family in Mind

What drew them to the house in 2019 was its great bones and a surprisingly open-concept layout for a home built in 2005 — something they immediately saw potential in.“ We loved that it already felt open and bright,” says Dallas. “It just needed fresh life.”

So, the Michelucci's embarked on a comprehensive transformation — repainting every wall, door, and piece of trim, completely remodeling the bathrooms, rebuilding their fireplace, replacing ceramic tile with hardwood, new carpeting, upgrading lighting, refinishing the staircase, new laundry room, and refreshing the finishes to create a cohesive, modern look.

In the basement, they took down select walls to create a large entertainment space and added a custom Murphy bed for guests. “It’s perfect for when my brother visits from out of town,” Joe says. “Now it feels like a true guest suite.”

The first floor became their passion project — “We’re both perfectionists, but we didn't know what we didn't know” Joe admits. “We actually had the floors done twice because the first color wasn’t right.”

The kitchen got a smart refresh — keeping the solid cabinetry but professionally painted along with installing a new island, countertops, backsplash, and new hardware for a clean, custom look

Modern, Warm, and Made for Living

The result is a home that feels brand new, yet welcoming and family-friendly. “Every detail was chosen for how we actually live,” says Dallas. “It’s stylish, but nothing’s too precious — the kids can run, play, and be themselves.”

From the airy first floor to the flexible basement, every corner now feels intentional. “It's the only house our kids know,” Joe says. “It’s home in every sense of the word.”

A Home Made with Heart

Now, with the renovation complete, the Micheluccis are ready to pass it on. “We put our hearts into this house,” says Dallas. “It’s been such a special place for our family, and we hope the next owners love it as much as we have.”
